Toronto Is Reopening Sports Fields Tomorrow But Games Are Still A No-Go
Nearly 700 sports fields are being reopened.
Toronto continues its piecemeal reopening of the city.
On Monday, July 6, Mayor John Tory announced that the City is reopening nearly 700 Toronto sports fields starting July 7. However, if it's a game you're after, you'll have to wait.
All 170 outdoor sports fields will open by Tuesday, July 7, says the City.
The City release notes that permits for outdoor facilities and multi-use fields will finally resume later this week. However, Tory added scrimmages and games will not be allowed "even amongst teammates."
A temporary maximum of 10 people will be allowed on City sports fields, which includes coaches and parents as well as players.
Clubhouses, locker rooms, and similar facilities will also stay closed in accordance with a provincial order. So, train away, but games will have to wait.
