A heat wave is expected to pass Toronto this week, with temperatures reaching the mid to high 30s. However, with the humidity, it'll feel closer to 42 degrees Celsius. Environment Canada is calling this the longest heat wave to hit Toronto in history.

As a result, several services are taking extra precaution. GO trains will be running at slower speeds to prevent track damage, and Natural Resources Canada will be on a strict watch of forested areas in the GTA since the risk of wildfires will be high during this extreme heat period.

Make sure to dress cool, stay hydrated, and, if necessary, visit one of the seven cooling centres that will be open during the week!
