Toronto's Heat And Humidity Is Going To Spike Again This Weekend And, Honestly, Please No
The humidex will be back up to around 40°C...
Be honest - you were hoping the intense humidity was gone for the summer, weren't you? We certainly were, but it's shaping up for a return to uncomfortable conditions this weekend. The Toronto weekend weather forecast is suggesting late summer is about to kick it up several notches.
A month ago, back in mid-July, we were all peeling ourselves off seats and trying desperately to stay hydrated as humidity reachinghit the GTA.
Thankfully, those conditions haven't come close to being replicated yet this month, but brace yourselves.
"Sunday will be the hotter day with high temperatures reaching and possibly exceeding 30°C with a humidex in the upper 30s to near 40," said Doug Gillham, meteorologist at The Weather Network.
"If you're a fan of the extreme heat, this is the forecast for you," added Gillham's colleague, Kelly Sonnenburg.
It's interesting to note that should the 30°C base temperature mark be hit this weekend, it will be the first time that has happened so far in this relatively cool month.
The average number of days at or above 30°C in August for the city of Toronto is about 4.1, as per records kept by Toronto Pearson Airport and quoted by The Weather Network.
As of yesterday, we've had zero in August 2019. Yes, that's right. Zero.
In fact, from June to August 14 of last year, the number of 30°C days in the city was 24. For that same time period this year, Toronto has only had 10. Unsurprisingly, all of those days came in the July heatwave.
But that's likely to change as the heat and humidity make a comeback this weekend.
So, what's in store for the last few weeks of August?
The Weather Network predicts that a hot pattern will dominate the rest of the month and into September. Summer ain't over yet!
