Tragic Daylight Shooting Claims A Toronto Man’s Life And Leaves Residents On Edge
A daylight shooting at John Garland Boulevard and Kendleton Drive leaves one Toronto man dead.
The community of Jamestown was left shaken Sunday afternoon after a deadly shooting broke out in Rexdale, leaving one man dead and another seriously injured. Police reported that the fatal incident had unfolded near the intersection of John Garland Boulevard and Kendleton Drive just before 2:00 PM yesterday.
Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered one of the victims without a pulse. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead a little over an hour after the shooting was reported to have taken place. The second victim remains in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to inspectors who were on scene.
Officers stated that they did not know whether or not the attack had been targeted but assured residents that there was no concern at this time for the public's safety. However, residents of the area remain on edge. Several witnesses even reported spotting the victim's lifeless body lying out in broad daylight before emergency services arrived on scene.
“This is messed up,” expressed one witness who according to The Sun lives right around the corner from the Rexdale where the shooting had occurred. Another witness explained how the bodies were discovered, “A guy got out of the car and pointed at them, they were definitely targeted.”
Police are asking for the public’s assistance at this time in identifying those behind the shooting, anyone with any information should contact authorities. Police say they saw a white SUV leaving the area and will update the public further after reviewing the footage from any nearby surveillance cameras.
