TTC riders were greeted by yet another chaotic commute today. Large crowds of people started gathering outside of Eglinton Station on Wednesday morning due to TTC delays. Hundreds were forced to wait for shuttle buses to arrive, but according to many, those buses are few and far between. Subway service has since resumed, but chaos still ensued.\nAccording to the TTC, service between Union Station and Eglinton Station was suspended mid-morning due to reports of a fire. Shuttle buses are running, but trains bypassed Yonge Station.\nAs any Toronto commuter can probably tell you, a shutdown of this size on a weekday morning is a recipe for disaster. Unfortunately, it seems like today is no exception.\nLine 1 Yonge-University: No service between Union and Eglinton while we respond to a report of a fire. Stop lying. There's not even a single TTC staff member in sight at Eglinton to guide people. Get your shit together please. @TTChelps— Chris Tung 👅 @ FAN EXPO CANADA! However, by the time fire crews arrived, the fire had already been extinguished.\nThe second report of a fire at Bloor-Yonge came in at 9:38 a.m. Those flames have also been extinguished, explained Toronto Fire Chief David Eckerman. The investigation into the matter is still ongoing, and shuttle buses will continue to run in the meantime.
