We've all heard horror stories involving a breach of commuter safety on the TTC. Toronto commuters are exposed to all sorts of dangerous situations during their transit rides, and when it comes to transit safety, a lot of work still needs to be done. A recent Toronto Star report analyzed TTC crime trends between 2010 and 2015 and found that metropass fraud was the most common offence (952 incidents), followed by assault on bus drivers (869 incidents) and passengers (300 incidents). Threats were also in high number, and included some cases that were deeply unnerving (e.g. A man claiming to have HIV threatened to smear his bloody knuckles on a driver).
William Davis, a cartographer for the Toronto Star, has also determined the top 15 most dangerous bus routes between 2010 and 2015:
