The wildfires in the U.S. have gotten so bad, that hundreds of B.C. firefighters are heading down south to help out while there's a pandemic.

As of now, 200 people will be sent south of the border and if needed, an additional 200 could be sent out in the future.

It speaks volumes about our compassion and our commitment to helping each other.

The province says that 800 wildfire personnel volunteered to be deployed into Redmond, Oregon.

Because of COVID-19, B.C. workers all remain within their own “bubble” and conduct their operations separate from the American teams.

Smoke from the wildfires has spread all across Canada and is choking places like Vancouver that's experiencing some of the worst air quality in the world.
