Any Canadians who are planning to take a trip to the other side of the world are in luck. Air Canada is now offering flights from Canada to New Zealand, and their inaugural flight has already happened. Not only that, but passengers get to ride on a brand new plane.

The non-stop flights depart from Vancouver and fly straight to Auckland, New Zealand. The flights are also timed to connect with locations across North America, making it more convenient to take that New Zealand winter trip.

"I'm thrilled that Air Canada will be offering direct flights from Auckland to Vancouver," Lisa Beare, British Columbia's Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture said in a press release.

"B.C. is a sought-after destination for international visitors, with Vancouver International Airport as the gateway to exploring our beautiful province."

Flights depart from Vancouver at 11:45 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Return flights depart from Auckland at 2:30 PM local time on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

"The new Air Canada non-stop service between Vancouver and Auckland will contribute to strengthening our close connections, further increasing our people-to-people links and tourism links," Amy Tisdall, New Zealand's chargée d'affaires said in a press release.

The New Zealand direct flight is the third new international route introduced by Air Canada this year. The others are flights from Montreal to Sao Paulo and Toronto to Quito.

Not only are the flights a convenient way to travel to New Zeland during their summer season, but passengers also get to fly on the new Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

These new planes have plenty of great features to make the long flight way more comfortable, including in-flight entertainment at every seat in economy class. There are also 21 premium economy seats and 20 Signature Class lie-flat seats.

As with any Air Canada flight, the new direct flights to New Zealand are eligible for Aeroplan redemption and point accumulation.

These flights are only operating for a limited time until March 2020, so if you've been planning to really get away this winter, you should book your trip now!
