Canadian Women's Olympic Soccer Ready To Take The World Stage
Tune in at 11 am and show your Canadian pride.
The 2016 Summer Olympics are about to begin! Friday is the opening ceremony in Rio, but soccer is kicking off a little early and today our lovely ladies from Canada face off against Australia. In 2012, Canadian women's soccer earned an Olympic bronze and they are poised to prove themselves again on the world stage.
Currently ranked number 10 in the tournament by FIFA, they will have an uphill battle, playing against 5th ranked Australia and set to play Germany later on in group stage who holds the number 2 spot.
The Canadian team captivated our nation at the last Olympics as they knocked out the host England in the quarter finals. With the constant excitement surrounding this year's games, we are sure to have another entertaining story unfold as our team sets out to make the podium. Captain Sinclair had this to say, “There's half-a-dozen or so teams that have a legitimate shot at getting on the podium, and I'd put our team right up there.”
The team has got some new players. Their young legs should help propel Canada forwards, dominate the pitch, and secure victory today. Let's all get behind Canada and show our support! The game will be commencing at 11 am (Vancouver time) in Sao Paulo so don't miss out on any of the exciting action.
