No one is surprised when you say that Canada has had a hot summer but the long-lasting effects of the heat still remain to be seen. Raising temperatures and dry conditions have led to wildfires, with as many as 100 fires across Canada earlier in the year.

Wildfires have been sweeping across the country but one province, in particular, has recently been hit quite severely. British Columbia declared on Wednesday that it was in a state of emergency due to the fires in the province.

The state of emergency was declared by Mike Farnworth, the province's Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General. He said that public safety was priority number one and that's why with over 500 active fires currently, the province decided to declare the emergency.
