While almost everyone can agree that they love pizza, there's one divisive question that leaves both sides absolutely livid: does pineapple belong on pizza? Full disclaimer, I believe it does. Am I a trash person? Perhaps. But Vancouver, B.C. is actually where the most pineapple on pizza in Canada is ordered according to payment company Square's newest data.\nThat could mean that it's not just me, it's the environment where I grew up.\nAccording to their data, the pineapple preference is strongest in Vancouver. Then, it actually weakens out the further east you go in the country.\nPlus, there was a recent study last year that showed 76% of residents in B.C. agreed that they loved a bit of pineapple on pizza.\nNarcity spoke with Marlon English, general manager of The Parlour, one of Vancouver’s favourite pizza spots to hear their take.\nThey serve up the Five-O, a pizza topped with black forest ham and roasted pineapple. “The pizza, on the whole, is definitely one of the most popular and it’s our take on the Hawaiian pizza,” he said.\nWhen asked about the pineapple dilemma, he confirmed that the struggle is real. “There’s always a debate, should fruit be on a pizza? Some people like it, some people don’t.”\nCraving pizza tonight? Why not make it Hawaiian! Sam Panopoulos is credited with inventing the Hawaiian pizza in Chatham, Ontario. He believed that the mix of pineapple, bits of ham and bacon would create a delicious sweet and savory creation. Even in Kelowna, B.C., one out of ever 20 pizzas had pineapple on it.\nKarisa Marra, a business expert at Square, said that this data helps to set the record straight.\n“Although a small number of Canadians, mostly in Vancouver, are pineapple pizza lovers, overall, regardless of what anyone says, the vast majority of pizza eaters simply aren't ordering it,” she said in a press release.\nJust heard on morning tv here that Canada came up with the abomination of putting pineapple on pizza.
