Another Racist Rant Caught On Video In BC Of Man Saying He “Hates Chinese" People
This is the second racist incident on video in Metro Vancouver in under a week.
Just one week after a racist encounter was caught on video at a Shoppers Drug Mart in B.C., a second one has surfaced in Metro Vancouver. The altercation took place in Richmond, B.C. at a condo complex near Cambie Road and Number 4 Road after a man was caught breaking strata bylaws. The man was washing his vehicle in a prohibited zone and blocking a number of parking stalls while doing so. The racist car washing video in Richmond B.C. was shared by CityNews this past weekend.
According to News 1130, a woman, who has chosen not to reveal her name, spotted the man washing his car in the no-wash area at around 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2. She decided to try and get a photo of his to show to the strata. When she got out of her car, the man sprayed both her and her car with the hose “quite threateningly,” she told News 1130.
Beyond that, the man repeatedly told the woman and her friend to go back to China. The video of the indecent shows the man repeating “I hate f***ing Chinese.” In her interview with News 1130, she noted that both she and her friend were born in Canada. Throughout the entire incident, the woman’s nine-year-old daughter was sitting in her car.
The woman told News 1130 that her daughter was quite confused by the altercation but that she has opted to take it as an opportunity to teach her about the sort of behaviours she should not tolerate.
When a voice in the video says, "It says no carwashing in both English and Chinese," the man washing his car responds with "speak English." This sentiment is all too familiar as this video is the second of its nature to emerge in B.C. in just one week.
Last week, a video surfaced of a woman in Metro Vancouver shouting at staff members of a Shoppers Drug Mart demanding that they "speak English in Canada." She proceeded to call staff members idiots and berating them for speaking another language in front of her.
The woman in the video was accompanied by a young boy, presumably her son, who stood behind her the entire time. Thehas since been removed from social media, but not before being shared thousands of times.
As for this latest incident, the woman who recorded the video told News 1130 that she couldn’t believe the racist encounter. “I still couldn’t believe the racism, it was so strong. Of course it doesn’t make me feel good. I was actually quite shocked,” she said.
A number of disturbing videos have come out of the Metro Vancouver area recently. After the Shoppers Drug Mart video and a video of a, the footage joins an unfortunate lineup.
