Being a puppy babysitter sounds like a dream job, doesn't it? Well, dog lovers, we're about to make your dreams a reality, because this is an actual position you can apply for in Canada. Right now, not one, but two Canadian provinces are currently in need of "Puppy-Raisers" and "Puppy-Sitters" and are doing an open call for applications.

Unsure if you want to be a Puppy-Raiser, a Puppy-Starter or a Puppy-Babysitter? The three volunteer positions at PADS vary in time and commitment level. The most time intensive, a Puppy-Raiser will get to raise their new furry friend for a year and a half, starting with when the puppy is only eight weeks old.

If you don't have the time or ability to commit to raising a puppy for over a year, but still want to take care of one, there are two other short-term roles you can apply for. A Puppy-Starter gets to raise an eight-week-old puppy for two months.

A Puppy-Sitter is the least amount of commitment, and they help out Puppy-Raisers by babysitting their puppy for a temporary amount of time, which ranges from one night to several weeks.

Applications are open for both volunteer positions and at several of their branches, according to the PADS website. So whether you're from BC or Alberta, there's a puppy position waiting for you.
