A rather terrifying close encounter was recently caught on video. The dash cam footage shows a Vancouver pedestrian nearly getting hit by a car after running onto the street unexpectedly. The footage is incredibly scary. The video was posted online on April 4th, 2019, and it has already gotten a lot of attention. A recent video shows a pedestrian taking a huge risk in front of a moving vehicle in the middle of an intersection. The close encounter was caught on dash cam and the driver has since posted it online on Reddit and Youtube for people to watch. According to the video, the incident took place on April 4th, 2019, at night on 1st Avenue at Nanaimo. The video shows the driver moving at an undisclosed speed towards an intersection. Even though the diver has the right of way, a pedestrian is seen standing at the crosswalk, right next to the walk light button. Out of nowhere, the pedestrian bolts across the street, nearly missing the vehicle. Thankfully, the driver of the vehicle reacted incredibly fast and swerved out of the way. An additional dash cam that was placed on the back of the vehicle then shows the pedestrian finishing crossing the street and it looks like they aren’t moving that fast at all. This pedestrian not only put their own life at risk by walking onto the intersection when it was not their right of way, but they also risked the safety of the other drivers when the vehicle had to swerve out of the way. Reddit user Va7ddp posted the encounter online for people to watch. According to one Reddit user, things like this happen all the time in Vancouver. Others are applauding the driver for having such a quick reaction time.
