Jagmeet Singh’s legal knowledge was put to the test during his appearance on A Little Late With Lilly Singh last week when he took part in a quiz about weird Canadian laws. The NDP leader played a game of “Whose Law Is It Anyway?” with fellow-Canuck and host Lilly Singh, during which he was asked to decide if a totally weird law was American or Canadian. He guessed that it was a U.S. thing — but was surprised to learn that it’s a rule specific to Alberta! The political party leader later assumed that it was illegal to “slay Bigfoot” in Canada, but was incorrect once again. He managed to regain some points later on, though, when he correctly answered that it’s illegal to eat ice cream outdoors on Bank Street in Ottawa on a Sunday. Singh admitted that it’s a “bonkers” rule, but was super excited to get the question right. The game ended after he also correctly guessed that limiting bingo games to twice a week in nursing homes was an old American law. Host Lilly Singh concluded by saying that the NDP leader was a “winner” in her eyes, to which Jagmeet responded, “Thank you! I will take that!” During the show, the duo also talked about the financial struggles he’s experienced in his life, as well as how he responds to hate with love.
