A Group Of Manitobans Turned Their Flooded Neighbourhood Into A Lazy River (VIDEO)
Now that's the right attitude.
If there's one thing Canadians know how to do, it's turning bad weather into a good time. A group of residents in Hadashville, Manitoba turned a flood into a day at the beach, literally. A video posted by The Weather Network shows people floating around in tubes on top of floodwater.
"What do you do when your entire property is flooded? Go tubing like these residents in Hadashville, Man," reads the caption.
If you’ve never heard of Hadashville, that’s probably because it’s really small. It’s about 100 kilometres east of Whitemouth River watershed. and it’s located in the
The video was shared by The Weather Network on Monday, June 15.
Just four days prior on Thursday, June 11, overland warnings were put in effect and are still in effect on Monday at the time of writing.
The warning’s description reads “Manitoba Infrastructure's Hydrologic Forecast Centre has issued a flood warning for southeastern Manitoba due to continued rise in water levels along rivers and creeks in this area. Significant overland flooding is also occurring.”
All you have to do is look at the video to know that this is no joke.
The footage will warm your heart because the people in the video as well as the person taking the video are giggling the whole time. You even see one of the people floating with a separate tube to carry a cooler.
If that’s not what summer is all about, we don’t know what is.
While these residents are kicking back, you can see what one of them describes as a “shop” which looks like a big garage, totally flooded from all directions. One person even says “it’s not very often that happens.”
The weather alert warns locals to “be watchful of local waterways as flooding is likely to occur or occurring. Do not attempt to cross fast flowing waters or waters of unknown depth.”
It also advises to avoid flooded areas and follow directions from local law enforcement.
Along with this local weather warning, there are over a dozen more of its type in surrounding areas.
Floods are also. In fact, the flooding had cars underwater in the middle of the street.
While not everyone gets the chance to grab a tube and go for a float during a flood, it sure is an example of a good attitude while your property is literally underwater.
