It may be the middle of winter, but one Ontario man is creating some major heat.\nLondon resident Mike Jack set a chili eating Guinness World Record by gobbling down three of the hottest chili peppers on Earth in under 10 seconds.\nEditor's Choice: Niagara’s Guinness World Records Museum Has Closed Forever & So Many Items Are For Sale\n\nThis is the fourth world record Jack holds for chili eating, and he's still fired-up to set some more.\nJack spoke to Narcity about his latest achievement, and how he handles the heat.\nWhat did your latest Guinness World Record involve?\nJack's most recent record was for the fastest time to eat three Carolina Reaper chilies, which he completed in 9.72 seconds.\nWhile Jack finished the challenge back in November, the record was only recently confirmed by Guinness World Records.\n"The Carolina Reaper pepper has the Guinness World Record for the world's hottest pepper," Jack explained.\nHe attempted the challenge 12 times before breaking the record, sometimes even practicing twice on the weekends.\n"It was pretty taxing physically doing this every weekend, but it was more taxing mentally I'd say because I was like, 'I don't know if I can do this, I've tried how many times now?'"\n\n\nHow do you handle the heat?\nJack is no stranger to spice.\nHis YouTube channel, Mike Jack Eats Heat, is totally dedicated to his spice-filled diet, and he's even represented Canada at the World Championship of Chili Pepper Eating. \nThe worst thing about eating the world's hottest peppers, he says, is a thing called capsaicin cramps.\n"About an hour after I would eat the peppers, I would get these crazy, super painful cramps... it hurts a lot and they come in waves."\nHaving a full stomach and getting energized is an important part of the task.\n"I give myself a few slaps in the face and yell, so that gets me amped up to go."\n\nWhat's next for you?\nThere are eight chili-related records to break, and with four already under his belt, Jack says he's, "going for all eight."\nThe next challenge he is going to attempt is the most jalapeño peppers eaten in a minute.\nIn order to win, he'll have to consume over 16, which is the current record, according to the Guinness World Records.\nEven when he's not trying to break records, Jack still enjoys adding spice to his meals.\n"One of my favourite snacks is toast with peanut butter and hot sauce," he laughed.
