The man behind Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, has officially surpassed Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to become the richest person in the world.
Worth nearly $190 billion, Musk responded to a tweet by the Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley and came off as the most average Joe around.

The Tesla owners' page tweeted saying that Musk is now the richest person in the world.
In response, the billionaire wrote "how strange" followed by "well, back to work..."
On his own page, Elon Musk wrote "Btw, critical feedback is always super appreciated, as well as ways to donate money that really make a difference (way harder than it seems)."
As of Thursday, January 7, he took the spot of the richest person in the world from Jeff Bazos, having lept above his net worth by $1.5 billion.
Musk holds Canadian citizenship and his mother was actually born in Saskatchewan.
