If there were any doubts left about Bianca Andreescu, they have now be silenced. The Canadian tennis star emerged victorious in her first match since her historic U.S. Open win on September 7th. Andreescu wobbled a bit in her second but came back in her signature comeback fashion to defeat Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the first round of the China Open.

The victory marked the 19-year-old’s 14th win in a row, and as if that wasn’t enough, she also locked down a spot of the WTA Tour Finals. The sports association announced on September 29 that Andreescu had secured one of the eight spots in the season-ending Finals, which take place from October 27 to November 3 in Shenzhen, China.

The only bad news that Andreescu received was that she dropped from No. 5 to No. 6 in the WTA rankings. Romania’s Simona Halep managed to nab the spot from the tennis star despite losing out to Prague’s Ekaterina Alexandrova during the first round of the China Open.

"This has been an incredible year for me, and I’m really looking forward to ending the season at the Shiseido WTA Finals Shenzhen," said Andreescu according to WTA's website. “I’ve always dreamt of competing at the WTA Finals, and I’m so proud of all the work my team and I put in to get to this point."

During the match, Sasnovich, who is ranked 60th, managed to give Andreescu trouble in the second round but was ultimately overwhelmed after the Mississauga native came back hard the following round.

Andreescu mentioned last week that she was feeling confident about chances for glory in Beijing. “I’m coming off a big win, but that’s only going to give me momentum and confidence going into Beijing,” Andreescu said while finishing up a week of training at Tennis Canada’s National Training Centre.

“I’ll have another good week of training next week (in China), so I’m feeling good.” Andreescu shared her arrival in Beijing with her 642k Instagram followers early on Wednesday morning.
