The Calgary Flames tragic losing streak continues. The Flames lost 5-0 to the St. Louis Blues last night, landing the boys in red at six losses in a row. Throughout the downward trajectory, discouraged fans have been taking to the internet to share their predictions about how the Flames will respond. The most recent prediction is that Calgary will get rid of their current coach, Bill Peters, in exchange for former Toronto Maple Leafs coach, Mike Babcock. The Calgary Flames Mike Babcock rumours are all over social media.
As of now, haven’t won a game since November 7 and they’ve only scored a total of five goals since. Compared to the 23 that have landed in their net, things are looking bleak.
As you probably know, Mike Babcock of the Toronto Maple Leafs was, November 20. Babcock's dismissal followed after a familiar six-game losing streak.
With the Flames in an identical position, hockey fans are curious if the team's coach, Bill Peters, will suffer the same fate as Babcock did earlier this week.
Beyond that, there have been a number of predictions swirling that Babcock may take Peters' place as coach of the Calgary Flames since he has recently become available.
"Babcock will be the next Coach of the Calgary Flames," one Twitter user confidentally predicted. "My prediction is that the Flames fire Peters and hire Babcock. You heard it here first," wrote another user."
"Babcock is going to Calgary because the Flames love hiring gruff guys with dope hair who have been deglorified by failing miserably in Toronto," one post said.
Bill Peters has only been the head coach of the Calgary Flames since 2018, though he’s been coaching in the NHL since 2011. He was the head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes from 2014 to 2018.
According to Sporting News, Bill Peters told reporters on November 5 that the team needs to see “more out of some veteran guys.”
The team’s captain, Mark Giordano, told the Calgary Sun, “I think we’ll get together again tonight at the team meal and hash it out, and hopefully we can get some real positives from hearing guys speak” after the Flames lost to the Blues, marking their sixth loss in a row.
The Calgary Flames have a massive fanbase in Calgary and beyond. Though many hockey fans are sharing playful predictions online, there is still a massive outpour of love and support.
