Jagmeet Singh Throws The Spotlight On The Eskimos Following The Redskins' Name Change
The team is consulting with the Inuit community.
Canada's NDP leader is asking to see more change in the world of football.
On Monday, July 13, in response to an article about The Washington Redskins' name change, Jagmeet Singh decided to address Edmonton's football team, not even calling them by name himself.
Over to you, Edmonton football team
Edmonton's football team is named the Edmonton Eskimos and they play in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
When the Washington team first announced in early July that they were reviewing their name, the Edmonton team stated on Twitter that they were increasing "engagement" with Inuit communities to learn their views on the matter.
In the same tweet, the Eskimos said that their earlier findings revealed that there was "considerable support" for the name among the Inuit community in many parts of Northern Canada.
