It's finally going to happen, Monday night is the night that Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors face off post-championship. Monday, November 11, 2019, is bound to be an emotional night for fans who came to love Kawhi for his off-beat personality and ability to elevate Toronto from the NBA underdogs to undisputed champions. However, we know how fans feel about Kawhi, but what does the Boardman think of the country he left now that he has had some time to reflect?

Kawhi recently opened up about his time in Canada to TSN, and it was clear that the Finals MVP still has a lot of love for his boys in red.

"The guys, the journey, also the country, the city, it was amazing," Leonard gushed to reporters on Saturday night. "There's just so much you could keep going on and talking about."

Leonard also made it clear that he has no intention of taking it easy on us tonight.

However, he stated that he is looking forward to shaking hands with his old teammates and congratulating them on everything they’ve achieved since his departure.

"It's a former team that I won a championship with, but it's like any other game. It's going to be fun to see the guys again and congratulate them and be able to shake hands and compete."

It became apparent during the interview that Kawhi has been watching the Raptors closely since leaving the team in the summer.

The NBA star detailed how he thinks the team has evolved to fill the gaping hole that he left in its roster.

"OG is finally getting a chance to play every game, a lot of minutes, so his improvement is going to keep getting better, as well as Pascal. Him being the No. 1 option there is great for him. He's going to learn and keep growing."

Despite all his warm words about the 6ix, Kawhi also made it clear that he still feels he made the right decision for his family by leaving.

"I'm able to see my family after the games. I'm in Southern California, beautiful weather. I'm at my house. So, everything's been good," Leonard said with his usual conviction.

The Raptors will face off against the Clippers at 10:30 p.m. at the Staple Center tonight.
