Predicting how the team will fare with superstar Kawhi Leonard’s future firmly sealed in L.A. is a guessing game at best. But one thing about next year is clear: the Raptors new jersey design is one of the sharpest the league has to offer. Friday morning, the club released a series of teaser videos showcasing a new retro jersey for the 2019-20 season, a look that a lot of Raps fans will recognize from the club’s championship parade in June. Of course, that court is also based off the inaugural purple and red style of the 1995 uniforms. The Raptors open their title defence on opening night, Oct. 22, 2019, when first-overall draft pick Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans visit Scotiabank Arena. The team will also be raising their championship banner to the rafters and accepting their championship rings the same night.
