Christmas just came early for Canadian celeb fans and it's for a great cause. We love it when two worlds collide. Ryan Reynolds' Christmas charity initiative has been joined by Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews. In fact, Matthews even "borrowed" Reynold's notorious holiday sweater to announce his involvement and we're so here for this kind of collab.

Matthews sported an ugly Christmas sweater that was identical to Reynolds' famous attire in order to help raise money. The Leafs man ditched the hockey jersey and took to Instagram to share the look.

Reynolds is bringing back his notorious piece of clothing for the SickKids Foundation in 2019 after the sweater stole the holiday show last year.

The actor and favourite Canadian son has admitted in the past he's not a big hockey guy, but he's still getting support from within the sport.

Matthews posted a photo of himself wearing the sweater he "borrowed" from Reynolds. In the caption accompanying the photo, he asks if the Vancouver-born movie star is cool with him wearing the item.

"Hope it’s ok I borrowed your sweater @vancityreynolds. Help Ryan Help @SickKidsVS," reads Matthews' message.

The sweater, of course, has a chequered history.

Fellow actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Reynolds' BFF Hugh Jackman playfully made fun of the Canadian last Christmas. If you somehow haven't seen the iconic snap, RR was apparently the only one dressed up at a "holiday-themed" sweater party.

Now, the sweater is being used for a great cause.

Matthews and Reynolds seem to share the same idea and the Leafs star hopes to help him out and get more attention.

Reynolds is aiming to match the total amount of donations made to the SickKids Foundation before midnight on December 24, 2019.

So, that green-and-red sweater with the bright gold bow, whatever you may think of its aesthetic qualities, is genuinely a gift that keeps on giving.

This kind gesture got Reynolds' attention, anyway. Vancity's finest commented on Matthews' picture.

"You're the best, Auston. Thank you!!!" comments Reynolds.

Matthews, of course, is no stranger to rubbing shoulders with Canadian icons. He and Justin Bieber share some pretty strong mutual love, after all.

And he's not afraid to dress up in some questionable gear, too. He did a pretty stellar impression of Freddie Mercury for Halloween this year.

We had a modern Canadian classic sporting moment last week when Wayne Gretzky and Bianca Andreescu shared a photo together.

Now, we might have just seen another iconic collab. We eagerly await a Matthews cameo in Deadpool 3.

There are stories everywhere. If you spot a newsworthy event in your city, send us a message, photo, or video @NarcityCanada on Twitter and Instagram.
