This Easy 4.8-km Spring Trail Will Bring You To Alberta's Bluest Lake
You won't believe the colour of the water!
We are so fortunate to live in Alberta, which is bursting with natural gems. Between Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, there is no shortage of stunning lakes that make us proud to call this province home. But there is one Alberta hike to a blue lake that you need to try. The water there is so bright you need to see it first hand to believe how stunning it is.
If you love spending time outdoors, then chances are you are no stranger to Kananaskis Country. Located west of, there are plenty of hiking trails to discover that will take you over mountain trails and past crystal clear bodies of water.
Even if you prefer spending time indoors, the area also boasts somewhere you can enjoy the sunshine. For example, the simple Barrier Lake Interpretive Trail would be the perfect way to spend an afternoon with your BFF.
The hike starts at Kananaskis Trail — for the most part, it is relatively flat, with just a short uphill hike. But trust us — the climb is worth it for theyou can enjoy from the top.
From the lookout, you'll enjoy an excellent panoramic view of the sparkling blue water of Barrier Lake, along with the surrounding majestic mountains.
It is so stunning you'll want to share the view with all your friends.
The rest of the walk is also beautiful, as it provides stunning views of the beaches at Barrier Lake, the lush forest, and even plenty of wildflowers that grow in the area.
The entire journey should take you roughly two and a half hours from start to finish. But if you want, you can shorten the trip and begin at the upper parking lot of Barrier Lake.
You won't miss out on the lookout and will shave a bunch of time off your trek.
After, if you want to extend your time outdoors, the sandy beaches are perfect for relaxing.
Or at Barrier Lake Boat Rentals, you can rent a stand-up paddleboard or kayak and get on the water.
