BC has so many incredible waterfalls that make our province spectacular, but did you know that we actually have our own Niagara Falls? Hidden in Goldstream Provincial Park, this waterfall is straight out of a fantasy novel. Surrounded by deep, rich hues of green with moss and ferns everywhere, you'll be basically expecting a unicorn to pop out at any moment and give you your quest.

Goldstream Provincial Park has waterfalls that are just incredible to see in person. It's own Niagara Falls is named after the "real" Niagara Falls in Ontario because it's almost as tall—it's 47.5 metres high! Unlike the OG Niagara Falls, you can basically walk right up to this one. It's pretty incredible to feel how dwarfed you are standing next to them.

Adding to the magic of the area is its secrets and histories. It's the traditional fishing grounds for local First Nations and you can see an incredible salmon run here in the Fall. The area had a gold rush in the 1900s and that's where the name "Goldstream" comes from! There are abandoned trestles, mining shafts and tunnels throughout the park—none of which you should actually investigate because safety but they're really neat to see from a distance and it gives you a sense of the history of the place.

You can find Goldstream Provincial Park on Vancouver Island just 16 KM from Victoria. It takes about 3.5 hours to get there from Vancouver including ferry time. There is even a campground here if you want to spend a weekend exploring the park!

For more information on Goldstream Provincial Park and BC's own Niagara Falls, check out the BC Parks website before you go for safety info and any updates. It's a fairly short and sweet hike to reach the falls but the water levels can vary throughout the year.

We strongly advise that before you go swimming or visit any location, you check the most recent updates on potential hazards, security, water quality, and closures. If you do plan to visit a location, respect the environment.
