There is nothing that can hold us back from our beloved food trucks. Nothing. In light of current social distancing measures, YYCFoodTrucks in Calgary is now hosting drive-thru experiences instead of their normal walk-ups. The next Drive-thru event is happening this weekend from Friday, April 24 to Sunday, April 26, and you can get your hands on the endless delicious goodies without even leaving your car. YYCFoodTrucks held their first drive-thru event last weekend on April 19 and it was such a huge success that they decided to do it again just a few days later on April 21. Global News reported that over 3000 cars stopped by the Southcenter Mall to check it out. Looks like Calgarians are keen to support their local vendors during this time. Or maybe just excited for a reason to leave the house. Either way, it was a total hit. The incredible food that the trucks will be serving up is definitely worth mentioning, too. From mini-doughnuts and buckets of cookie dough to lobster alfredo, there is something for everyone. So if you missed out on the fun this past weekend, don't feel bad because they're coming back and it's going to be bigger and better than ever. For starters, they're not in one but two locations this weekend: Southcentre Mall and CrossIron Mills. Then you place and pay for your order at the first food truck window. After that, you can drive and grab your food at the pickup point right ahead. It couldn't be easier. And the added advantage of the two locations is that you can literally drive to the second location and chow down on more food if you've already made the most of the first location. Hey, if you're only going to be leaving the house once in a blue moon, you might as well make it worth it. Take a look at the list of vendors to see the kind of food that awaits you this weekend. It's never a bad time to go local but there is no denying that it's been a rough time for some local restaurants. The pandemic has shut a lot of them down — some of them for good. Meanwhile, a whole bunch of places have hopped into the home delivery scene. Including these drive-thru events, there are still tons of opportunities to support local and eat great good. YYCFoodTrucks Drive-Thru When: Friday, April 24 to Sunday, April 26 Address: Southcentre Mall, 100 Anderson Road S.E., Calgary, AB, & CrossIron Mills, 261055 Crossiron Blvd., Rocky View County, AB Why You Need To Go: Support local, eat great food, and do something totally unique in the Calgary food scene.
