Keep your eyes to the skies this afternoon. The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will be flying over parts of Alberta today, including Edmonton. The Snowbirds' Edmonton show is set to take place this afternoon, so if you hear a loud noise, don’t be alarmed. It's all part of honouring health care workers.

According to the Government of Canada, the Royal Canada Air Force Snowbirds are doing a cross-Canada tour.

Doing their part to thank first responders, the Snowbirds are on a unique mission that began on Saturday, May 2.

The team's signature nine-jet formation took to the skies in Nova Scotia and have been making their way across Canada ever since.

This afternoon, they will be flying over Edmonton, and you do not want to miss the show.

“Every year, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds travel the country putting smiles on the faces of Canadians,” said Lieutenant-General Al Meinzinger, Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force, in a press release.

“While Canadians may not be able to gather at air shows for now, we’re honoured to bring the Snowbirds team to Canadians and to pay special tribute to them.”

The Snowbirds have posted a map on their Facebook page so viewers can see exactly when and where they'll be flying.

According to the latest maps, the flying group will be taking off at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 15, from Cold Lake.

There, they'll be setting their GPS for Fort McMurray where they'll eventually land at around 10:30 a.m.

Later on in the day, the group will be flying over Edmonton.

After taking off from Fort McMurray at around 1:30 p.m., the team will be flying over our city as they head towards Nisku and land at around 2:30 p.m.

The planes are breathtaking and incredibly loud. Even if you miss seeing them, you definitely won't miss hearing them.

The nine planes will be flying over Edmonton in their staple formations, so if you are in for a little show before the long weekend, then keep your eyes peeled.

If you are a fan of the Snowbirds, then keep a close eye on their local media accounts, as this where they will post future routes.

The team has already done epic shows in Ottawa, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Quebec
