You Can Horse Around On The Beach In Niagara & The Views Are Priceless
They reopen on May 19, tell your neigh-bours!
Sometimes, you just feel like horsin’ around. If you’re looking for magical adventures to add to your summer bucket list, we’ve found the perfect place. You can go horseback riding near Niagara Falls and the route is a beachy paradise.
Located in Port Colborne, Ont., you’ll find Horseplay Niagara, a 20-year-old trail riding stable that offers scenic views and horseback riding for people of all skill levels.
Here, you can enjoy a two-hour horseback adventure that leads you down the beautiful Trans Canada Trail, along the beach, and through wooded areas.
Currently, there are over 40 horses on-site and all of them are rescues, owner Kathy Buttigieg tells Narcity.
“Our horses are our biggest joy and passion and over the last 20 years we have rescued more than 100 horses from the meat auction,” Buttigieg explains.
“Our trail horses are rescues, who at times come to us in horrible condition. They are all provided with needed veterinarian and farrier care as well as a custom feed regime.”
She adds that the horses are free to socialize and play together in their 25-acre pasture.
The stable is set to reopen on Tuesday, May 18 so be sure to mark your calendars asap.
Before embarking on your ride, you will be required to meet with the horse and review safety and riding instructions.
Because, as Buttigieg told Narcity, the safety and welfare of the horses is their absolute top priority.
“The welfare of our stable horses is paramount, and every horse shall at all times be treated humanely and with dignity, respect and compassion,” she shared.
“It does not take long after coming here until they are healthy, happy and have found a new calling in life.”
There are a few different ride types to choose from on the stable’s website, with the cheapest one starting at $50.
Though, it's worth noting this experience is shorter than the two-hour ride offered on Airbnb.
It's recommended that you bring long pants and running shoes to make your adventure more comfortable.
So there you have it. Horseback riding on the beach is one hell of a day out, and that's the honest hoof!
