June, July, and August are always filled with long lazy days and ice cream. Our favourite way to unwind and relax on the weekends is by seeking out a river float with some BFFs to chat, drink, and laze the day away. One of the most epic spots for river tubing in B.C. will open on June 27 so there will be plenty of time to squeeze in a float this summer. Aaron Frisby, the owner of the Tube Shack by Cowichan River, confirmed to Narcity that they'll be running this 2020 season. They rent tubes and provide pick up shuttles down the river for river floaters. And, they just got approval from the Town of Lake Cowichan to operate. There are a ton of new ways to keep everyone as safe as possible this summer. As part of the new procedures this year, they'll only be letting 20 tubers hit the river every half hour. That means you'll have to book your spot online before you go. "Our biggest concern is that not everyone is going to be able to use our service because we're limited to how many people we can put up," said Frisby. If you want to put the Cowichan River float on your summer bucket list, then it'll pay to book your spot early. "I think it's one of the better ways you can socially distance this summer," said Frisby. It's easy to stay away from other people when you're literally floating away from them. If you do visit Vancouver Island from the mainland, be sure to respect the towns you're visiting and observe local guidelines.
