The most vibrant, colourful and fragrant season!
Although it may not feel like it outside right now, Spring is literally right around the corner. March is almost over and with that we enter into April, the month consistent showers that will eventually bring all the May flowers!
Spring is my absolute favourite month of the year because after a long, cold and snowy winter we finally receive a burst of vibrant colours, endless sunlight and much needed warmth in our lives again. It's the season of rejuvenation and that's exactly the feeling we get once Spring rolls around!
Toronto is full of gorgeous parks, gardens and green houses that offer the perfect locations to take in all the colourful flowers that are about to start blooming in the city. It's never too early to get into the Spring spirit and start planning your adventures!
1. Allan Gardens Park and Conservatory
Where: 19 Horticultural Ave // Garden District
The Allan Gardens are currently in full bloom right now until the end of April! Since this spot is a greenhouse the flowers are already blooming and transforming the space into a gorgeous, colourful oasis in the city!
2. High Park
Where: 1873 Bloor St W // Roncessvalles
We all know High Park is famous for it's blooming cherry blossoms in the Spring time. It's always hard to predict when these flowers are going to start sprouting because it all depends on the weather but they predict the flowers will shower the park in pink by late April to early May.
3. Toronto Flower Market
Where: 1001 Queen St W // West Queen West
The Toronto Flower Market takes place annually and offers tons of amazing flower stands with gorgeous bouquets for purchase! This year's market will be taking place from May to October in the West Queen West area. You can visit to buy as much flowers as your heart desires or just take a look around and admire their beauty!
4. Edwards Gardens
Where: 755 Lawrence Ave E // North York
Edwards Gardens is a public park that blooms with gorgeous, colourful flowers in the Springtime. It's home to tulips, wildflowers, roses and more throughout the park! There's also tons of walking trails that you can enjoy and take in the scenery.
5. Toronto Botanical Garden
Where: 777 Lawrence Ave E // Bridle Path
The Toronto Botanical Gardens is the perfect place to escape into nature in the city. It's home to 17 themed gardens and you can explore each one! Once Spring rolls around the tulips and other beautiful flowers start to bloom making this place that much more special.
6. The Gardener's Cottage
The Gardener's Cottage is located in the Beaches in Kew Gardens. It's a piece of history that's been in the city that was once home to the gardener of Kew Beach. Now it's a gorgeous spot that's home to stunning gardens in the Spring and events throughout the year!
7. Centennial Park Conservatory
Where: 151 Elmcrest Rd // Etobicoke
The Centennial Park Conservatory is like a tropical rainforest escape in the city. This garden is full of gorgeous tropical plants, cacti and their Spring flowers are in bloom as we speak! Their Spring and Easter flower shows will be going on until the end of April.
8. Toronto Sculpture Garden
Where: 115 King St E // Old Toronto
Located in the heart of downtown Toronto is this unique garden area that's completely open to the public. Since it's opening back in 1981 this park is filled with a never-ending display of new sculptures by local artists. You can enjoy the talented works contrasted by stunning flowers here this Spring.
9. City Hall Podium Green Roof
Where: 100 Queen St W // Downtown Toronto
In the heart of the city at Toronto's City Hall they've transformed their podium roof into an urban garden space that's open to the public. There's a courtyard with benches to sit back and enjoy, lush gardens, walkways and more!
10. St. James Park
Where: 120 King St E // Old Toronto
Another gorgeous park located in the heart of Toronto offers the perfect escape from city life in the Spring. It turns into a colourful oasis filled with flower blooms including tons of tulips, a cute fountain, an a gazebo!
11. Toronto Music Garden
Where: 539 Queens Quay W // Harbourfront
The Toronto Music Garden is the perfect place to see stunning flowers with the CN Tower in the background. It's located down at the Harbourfront Centre and it features unique garden architecture and gorgeous flowers in the Spring.
12. Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens
Where: 2901 Yonge St // Yonge and Lawrence
This scenic park comes alive in the Spring and starts bursting with vibrant colours. You can find everything from multi-coloured tulips to delicate cherry blossoms to gorgeous daffodils and so much more in this park!
13. Trinity Bellwoods Park
Where: 790 Queen St W // Trinity Bellwoods
If you want to see cherry blossoms in bloom in Toronto but also want to avoid the crowds at High Park, Trinity Bellwoods Park is the second best place to go! They have rows of gorgeous cherry blossoms that will be in bloom around the end of April.
14. Tommy Thompson Park
Where: 1 Leslie St // Toronto Islands
This is definitely the best park in all of Toronto for wildlife watching. It's filled with unique birds like owls, swans, hawks and more! In the Spring months this park fills with wildflowers that offer a beautiful backdrop for wildlife photos and nature exploration.
15. Osgoode Hall Courthouse
Where: 130 Queen St W // Downtown Toronto
Osgoode Hall is a landmark in Toronto since the construction of this historic building started back in 1829 and was finished in 1832. In the Spring the gardens out front of this building are honestly breathtaking, filled with daffodils and tulips plus there's trees of stunning cherry blossoms!
