This September 5K Run Ends At A Toronto Beer Festival And You Should Probably Start Training Now
Although there's even an option to, you know, not run...
If you've ever gone for a run and immediately thought "I wish I had a beer right now," then Toronto's fourth annual Famous Canadian Beer Run is the event for you! Taking place on September 14, the 5-kilometre run through Ontario Place will lead you into a festival full of local Canadian-brewed beers, award-winning food trucks, live entertainment, free massages, and more! So grab your BFF, lace up, and run your way to one of the coolest beer festivals in Toronto!
Due to ever-growing interest, the beer run will see a huge expansion in terms of food and beer vendors this year. They have also added festival activities like live music, free massages, and beer-themed running groups, event organizer Marissa Schroder tells Narcity.
"Really, this event is as much about the run as it is about the fun!" says Schroder. "In addition to beer, we have a live band playing all afternoon and attendees can enjoy food from some of the city’s most well-known food trucks."
Participation in the run will cost you $65 right now, but prices will rise starting in August, so you might want to act fast. The price includes a beer stein, a graphic T-shirt, four drink tokens, plus a bonus drink token that can be used exclusively at The Beer Store tent.
And yes, you can purchase entry to the beer festival without doing the run. If running isn't your thing, this package will cost $25 and still includes the beer stein and four drink tokens.
With "selfie stations" and water breaks set up throughout the course, there's no pressure to complete the run in a timely manner, Schroder explains.
"The great thing about the Famous Canadian Beer Run is that anyone can participate. Some run the entire course, some walk, and some do a combination," says Schroder. "The event is not timed and there is no limit on how long it takes you to complete the 5km route."
To accommodate everyone's different speeds and skill levels, start times are spread out throughout the day. Different groups will take off from the starting point in Ontario Place at 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., noon, and 12:30 p.m.
