The Toronto Zoo has completely transformed into something magical this winter, and it's taking guests on a whole different adventure. You won't be seeing lions or monkeys at this exhibit. An enchanting installation has turned the zoo into an illuminated wonderland, and you can embark on a futuristic journey through tons of displays. Toronto Zoo's Terra Lumina is officially opening on Friday, and it will transport you to a glowing nighttime paradise.

Terra Lumina is a unique experience where guests are immersed in a world of light and sound.

This is the first time the Toronto Zoo is hosting an event like this and after nine months of work, it's finally opening to the public.

Created by the Moment Factory, the installation transports you into the year 2099, where humans and nature live in harmony.

The group has produced similar exhibits in the past in places like Kingston and Montreal.

With stunning video projections, dreamy scores, and enchanting lighting, you'll feel as though you've stepped into a fantasy land.

The installation will take you down a 1.5 km pathway, where you can explore the glowing landscape and take in the inspiring displays.

Running only in the evenings, the zoo is illuminated by this breathtaking light show. Here's a video of what it looks like:

The journey begins at a giant portal that transports you far into the future.

You'll wander through an enchanted forest that dances with all sorts of colourful lights.

Luminous beams are projected through the misty night sky, and you'll find yourself tangled in a web of light.

As you travel, atmospheric sounds will fill your ears, pulling you deeper into the future.

Projections of radiant animals leap from rocks and appear between trees. You'll see a pack of howling wolves scurrying through a forest, and polar bears plunging into icy waters.

One interactive display consists of a giant drum circle, where every beat that you make creates a light pattern across the centre of the ring.

A smokey tunnel pulses with light as you venture through and glowing teepees illuminate the night sky.

Terra Lumina encourages visitors to think about the future of our world, and how we all have a role to play on this planet.

Messages such as, "Change Is Possible", and "The Future Is Now," appear in vibrant letters throughout the installation.

The event runs from December 13, 2019, to April 13, 2020. Tickets are available online, costing $33.89 per adult. You can buy a ticket at the door as well, although there is the chance that they will be sold out.

Visit the zoo for a magical journey into the future, and to experience the attraction in a whole new way. Be sure to dress warm, as the event is entirely outdoors.
