Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be born in a different time? What would the 6ix be like without the traffic jams, CN Tower, and bustling city centres? You don't need to build yourself a time machine to get a glimpse of historic Toronto. This virtual map will transport you back in time to the year of your choice, so you can see what life was like. Explore Toronto's historic online map and be swept back to the past.

Created by Sidewalk Labs, OldTO is an interactive map that lets you explore the streets of the city through over 30,000 old photographs.

"Our goal is to help Torontonians discover something new about their street or city," the website states.

"We think OldTO provides a powerful way to visualize the changes that have taken place on a given city block over time."

The free map lets you search for a location in the city, and choose a timeframe of photos you'd like to see.

You can click on little circles along the roads to view historic photographs of the area.

Some of the oldest photos range back to 1850, and you see what Toronto looked like during time periods such as the Great Depression and World Wars.

You can visit your block to see how much it's changed over the course of time and look in storefronts to view goods being sold.

The tool also offers an aerial view option, where you can compare how the city has changed since 1947 using side-by-side images.

The interactive map is a great way to explore the city and learn new things, especially if you're stuck at home.

Get ready to travel back in time with this historic Toronto map. You can also check out some other virtual tours across Ontario for more online fun.
