There are a few things that bring a satisfied smile to every Canadian's face. Winning a donut on roll-up-the-rim, not having to shovel your driveway on a winter morning, and finding another excuse to wear flannel are just a few of life's little pleasures in this country. Another Canadian enjoyment is, of course, a big helping of poutine, and as far as we're concerned, you can never have too much of this national 'delicacy'. A massive food-eating championship is coming soon, and it's the most Canadian competition ever. The World Poutine Eating Championship is happening in Toronto this month, and it's giving us some major patriotic feels.

Hosted by Smoke's Poutinerie, this international eating contest is happening for the 10th year, and it promises to be full of poutine, lumberjack plaid, and Canadian pride. The event will take place in Yonge - Dundas Square on October 19, 2019, from 10 a.m - 4 p.m. Smoke's Poutinerie revealed in a press release that the event has been established as the 'ULTIMATE ROCK N’ ROLL Stage Show' that draws over 20,000 fans and serves 8,000 free poutines a year.

This year, the championship will feature a Professional Eat-Off and the CEO Charity Eat-Off, where some of Canada's most successful CEO's will compete for a charitable cause. In the last three years, the World Poutine Eating Championship (WPEC) has raised over $250,000 for charity.

You can visit the Brock Street Brewing Company Beer Lounge and shop limited-edition designer tees during the event. Watch last year's champion, Joey 'Jaws' Chesnut defend his title against some of the world's top-ranked eaters. Last year, Chesnut claimed the Poutine Eating World Record with 25.5 pounds eaten in 10 minutes. That's something to aspire to!

Admission to this rock n' roll event is free, and there will be free poutine being served as well! Enjoy live music, selfie spots, prizes, and more! Make sure you save room for lots of delicious poutine before heading out to this patriotic event! For more poutine-y goodness, check out some of these dishes across the country.
