Get ready to have the most magical winter ever. An iconic event that is host to 1.5 km of magical lights is expanding its operating times. According to officials, Vallea Lumina in Whistler will be taking place this winter for the first time ever! Here’s what you need to know.

Vallea Lumina in Whistler, B.C. is like something out of a fairy tale. Filled with 1.5 km of lights, this event has you winding through the paths of a completely over-the-top forest. In the winter when the forest is blanketed with snow, this is going to look unreal.

As you walk, you will become completely immersed in a multi-media story that uses lights, sounds, and video to tell a story and make your experience amazing and immersive. You never thought you wanted to go for a walk in the woods at night, but now you will.

Typically held in the spring and fall months, Vallea Lumina will be expanding its operating times and offering a chance to experience the light walk in the winter, too.

Even if you’ve gone to the event before, we strongly recommend trying out the winter version. Walking around in the forest during a Canadian winter with all the twinkling lights will change the entire vibe of the event in a good way!

According to an email to Narcity from reps at Tourism Whistler, almost everything you know and love about the show will stay the same. One of the major changes will be to the path.

In order to eliminate any fall risk due to slippery conditions, an area of the path will be rebuilt during the downtime between October and November.

The organizers of the event also recognize that it may not be ideal to spend an hour outside given winter conditions. During their winter showings, the goal is to have the same experience just in a flatter area to eliminate the time spent in the cold.

According to the event website, winter showings will begin on November 28, 2019 and run until April 13, 2020. Showtimes will also vary depending on the month.

Tickets go for $39.99 and can be purchased online through the Vallea Lumina website right now. Don't miss the chance to wander a magical trail of lights in the snow this winter.

If you happen to find yourself in Whistler at the moment, you can check out the fall showings from now until Oct. 13.
