The final month of summer is upon us and that likely means you have some high hopes for the last hurrah. August weather in Vancouver is amazing so make sure you enjoy the great outdoors before the rain returns. There's lots to do and memories to be made so start planning your month so that you don't miss out on any of the fun.

Being that it's towards the end of the summer, you may be running low on funds thanks to all your exorbitant spending earlier in the season on ice cream cones, boat rentals, road trips, and just the usual partying. If that's the case, saving some money this month isn't a bad idea, so here is a list of all the free things going down in August 2016 in the greater Vancouver area:

1. Harmony Arts Festival

From July 29 to August 7, join in on the fun at Municipal Hall in West Vancouver. There'll be music, films, art, food, and so much more!

2. Summer Oasis Belly Dance

On August 16, the Kistilano Showboat is having a belly dance performance starting at 7 pm. There are many other free events throughout the month of August as well.

3. Port Moody Free Concerts

Every Sunday of August at 2 pm, Rocky Point Park is host to free musical performances. It is known as Summer Sunday Concerts and the lineup is filled with Blues, Soul, Funk, R&B, and Reggae bands.

4. Night Markets

There are several free night markets, including Panda Night Market in Richmond (every Fri, Sat, and Sun), Shipyards Night Market in North Vancouver (every Fri from 5 pm to 10 pm), and the Surrey Night Market (every Fri, Sat and Sun until August 14).

5. Robson Square Summer Dance Series

Every Friday of August from 7:30 pm to 11:30 under the dome at Robson Square, there are free dance lessons and performances. A perfect place to take a date.

6. Robson Square Sunday Afternoon Salsa

Every Sunday of August, there are salsa lessons, shows, and socials starting at 3 pm. Bring a hot date and get your salsa on!

7. Summer Outdoor Cinema

Every Tuesday of August, the Stanley Park free movie series continues. Movies start after the sun sets around 9 pm.

8. Pet-A-Palooza

On August 28 in Yaletown, the largest outdoor pet festival on the West Coast is taking place. Get chased by hundreds of adorable bulldogs during the famous running of the bulls.

9. Public Opera Concert

On August 4, if you like opera and Italian culture, there will be a free live concert at the Il Centro Italian Cultural Centre at 7 pm.

10. Farmers' Markets

If you like fresh food and chill vibes, there are several markets that are fun to peruse. It is also nice to support local farmers and eat tasty produce. See different markets here.

11. TD Vancouver Chinatown Festival

On August 13 and 14, there is a small cultural festival in Chinatown between Columbia and Keefer street.

12. Squamish Days

On August 1, Squamish Days is presenting a free picnic at O'Siyam Pavilion Park from 11 am to 5 pm. There will be a beer garden and also free yoga lessons.

13. Richmond Maritime Festival

On August 6 and 7, Britannia Shipyards in Richmond is putting on their annual free Maritime Festival to celebrate the seagoing culture and heritage of the area.

14. Korean Cultural Heritage Festival

On August 6 at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby from 10 am to 8 pm, immerse yourself in a day of Korean performances and festivities.

15. Car Free Days

On August 13 and 14, the street of Lonsdale Avenue is transformed into one giant festival in North Vancouver. They're also going to have a waterslide so bring your bathing suit if you're willing spend a little cash!

16. Pacific National Exhibition (PNE)

On August 23 and 30, the PNE Fair is free entry from 11 am to 1 pm.

17. Trout Lake Summer Concert Series

Every Wednesday of August outside the Trout Lake Community Centre, there'll be free concerts starting at 6:30 pm.

18. North Vancouver Summer Concert Series

The North Shore has lots of free concerts coming up. Bring a lawn chair, kick back and enjoy the tunes.

19. Musical Nooners

All month long during the week (not weekends) outside the CBC building, live free musical performances will be taking place at noon. This is the way to make the most of your lunch break.

20. And obviously... Go to the beach!!!

The beaches are beckoning you. The water has finally warmed up a bit and the sun is always shining. For an extra fun day at the ocean, head down the stairs to Wreck Beach where there's a party atmosphere everyday!
