The Lower Mainland has an ample amount of hikes that you and your dog will love, many of which are leash and restriction free. Here's a look at eight of the best dog friendly trails near Vancouver.
Please remember to be respectful of the trails and other people by, picking up after your pup, following trail etiquette, and trying to keep your four-legged friend well behaved. Keep in mind that even though most of these trails are off leash, dogs must be kept under control.
Brohm Lake // Squamish
A perfect place for a doggy swim, Brohm Lake has a variety of trails for all levels of fitness. You can circle around the lake, climb up to view the Cheakamus River, and access the Paradise Valley area.

Time: 3 - 5 hours
Elevation Gain: 100 meters

Quarry Rock // North Vancouver
Undoubtedly one of the most popular hikes in the lower mainland, Quarry Rock offers lovely views of Deep Cove and Indian Arm all year round. This trail is usually frequented by many people and many dogs.

Time: 0.5 – 1.5 hours
Elevation Gain: 100 meters
Season: Year-round

Pacific Spirit Regional Park // Vancouver
Located by UBC in Vancouver, this park offers a vast network of trails through over 750 hectares of forest. Most of the trails are off-leash and let you wander through the old-growth forest. Wreck beach is also nearby if your pup wants to go for a dip afterwards.

Lindeman Lake // Chiliwack
A great place to take a dip and see a picturesque lake. You can also get away from the crowds of Cultus Lake here. There is a great beach spot to finish your hike but those interested can keep continuing on to Greendrop Lake by following the trail.

Time: 1 – 2 hours
Elevation Gain: 300 meters

Dog Mountain // North Vancouver
Aptly named Dog Mountain, it only makes sense that this is a dog friendly trail. There is even a lake during the hike for your dog to cool off in. Keep in mind that dogs are supposed be on a leash when at Seymour Mountain.

Time: 1 – 2 hours
Elevation Gain: Minimal

Sea to Summit Trail // Squamish
This steep hike complete with a waterfall will make for a great climb for you and your dog. During the hike you'll pass Upper Shannon Falls. Once you reach the top, you'll be rewarded with a spectacular view of Howe Sound. No need to hike back down, you simply need to buy a "Buster The Dog" pass and you can bring your dog on the gondola ride down. A portion of the ticket proceeds benefit the Squamish BC SPCA.

Time: 2 - 3.5 hours
Elevation Gain: 918 meters

Buntzen Lake // Port Moody
See the mountains, lake, and forest all in one easy, beautiful hike that is accessible all year-round. After your walk you can enjoy a kayak ride around the calm lake, go for a swim, or relax on the beach area. Dogs must be on a leash except for the designated 'dog off-leash' area.

Time: 1 – 3 hours
Elevation Gain: Minimal
Season: Year-round
Off leash: Yes for 'dog off-leash' area and a 600 meter trail on the southeast end of the lake
Brothers Creek Loop // West Vancouver
Trail runners this route is for you. When you run or walk this 7km rugged trail you and your pup will enjoy passing waterfalls, pedestrian bridges, and lofty trees.

Time: 2 – 4 hours
Elevation Gain: 350 meters
Season: April - November
