This Is The Very Best Place To Start Your Morning In Vancouver
The most delicious concoctions ever.
When you have a bad case of the Monday blues (or, ahem, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays), sometimes the only thing that will cure you is a heavy dose of caffeine and carbs. And not just any caffeine or carbs can shake off the workday funk- but delicious, freshly baked breakfast goods and freshly roasted beans usually can.
Enter Ritual, a newer addition to Vancouver's restaurant scene: a remarkable fully-menued spot in the West End that also functions as a multi-concept space.
Serving up comfort food with a modern vibe (and brunch till 3 p.m. daily!), Ritual is good at any time of day - but with locally roasted coffee and decadent baked goods made in-house daily, I highly recommend stopping in one morning (when the space still smells like all the amazing freshly baked concoctions) to indulge and de-stress before tackling the week.
And just check out these baked goods:
But if your workday doesn't permit a quick drop-in to this West End gem, be sure to try it out on the weekend. With brunch options like "Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict", "The Phoebe Buffay" (feta and sundried tomato cake, green lentils, eggplant kasundi, sautéed mushrooms, carrot puree, sunny side eggs -- bonus points for the Friends reference), delicious caesars with the option of adding fried chicken, and breakfast add-ons that include a side of lucky charms cereal and milk, you'll feel like a giddy kid again at this modern but comfortable spot.
Ingredients are carefully sourced from local suppliers and farmers, and Ritual is a proudly "from scratch" restaurant. With coffee supplied from local Pallet Coffee Roasters, you can feel good about supporting local Vancouver businesses while indulging in the best lattes around.
Another cool thing about Ritual? They are the first certified 'living wage' restaurant in Vancouver - meaning, as opposed to relying on tips from customers to pay their employees, they pay staff $21/hour along with benefits. All tips are donated to "A Loving Spoonful", a non-profit that provides meals to people living with HIV/AIDs in the Greater Vancouver Area.
Stop by Ritual at 774 Denman St., and try their amazing menu for yourself. Open Sunday to Thursday 8 a.m.- 4 p.m., Friday + Saturday 9 a.m.- 9 p.m.
