Vancouver's Stunning Oceanfront Swimming Pools Will Open Next Month
Four outdoor pools will reopen in Vancouver in mid-July.
Summer is not cancelled in Vancouver after all. The city just announced that some outdoor pools in Vancouver will reopen in time for you to take a dip and chill. This turquoise blue pool is right on the ocean and it's a breathtaking place to spend a hot day.
On Monday, June 22 the Vancouver Park Board announced that they would open four outdoor pools in the city: Kitsilano, New Brighton, Second Beach, and Maple Grove. The city is blessed to have a few oceanfront swimming pools that give you million-dollar views while you get your laps in.
With the exception of Maple Grove, which will have a delayed opening, all the pools will reopen on Monday, July 13.
There will be new guidelines at the pool like physical distancing pods demarcated on the pool deck.
Swimming lanes will also be wider, there will be signs that show you which direction you should be going, and all the new pool rules will be posted.
Plus, the lifeguards on duty will be wearing personal protection equipment.
You'll have to arrive at the pool ready to jump in, literally. The changing rooms will not be open, but you can still use the washroom.
In addition to the pools reopening, there will be ten spray parks in the city that open for the kids to enjoy.
Plus, lifeguards are coming back to some of the most popular beaches.
The swimming areas at English Bay, Jericho, Kitsilano, Locarno, Spanish Banks (both east and west), Sunset, Third, and Trout Lake beaches will be supervised by lifeguards.
At the beaches, swimming zones will be marked off for you by red and yellow flags.
It used to be if you took a dip in the Pacific, that you'd have to stay between the buoys to stay safe, but now you will want to keep inside the flags.
Lifeguards will be on duty watching the waters for you between 11:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. every day until early September.
The Vancouver Park Board has opened up a lot of their places after closures.
back in May and more recently the city's popular pitch and putt spots opened again, too.
Like we said, summer in the city isn't cancelled after all and there are plenty of places to meet up with your friends or even take a swim together.
