BC's Stunning Sea-to-Sky Gondola Will Open On Valentine's Day & You Can Get 50% Off
It's reopening after the cables were cut last year.
Love is in the air, and so is the gondola! Metro Vancouver's Sea to Sky Gondola is back soon after its main cord was cut by vandals in September 2019. To celebrate, you can get 50% off tickets when they open this upcoming long weekend in February.
"We are opening earlier than anticipated and the task has been huge," said Kirby Brown, Sea to Sky Gondola General Manager in a press release.
"Our amazing team rose to the challenge and have done everything required to get us back up and running as quickly as possible so we can get back to connecting people with nature and the beauty of Squamish," said Brown.
30 new cabins will be installed on the gondola in the coming weeks. Other additions include a new 4.4 kilometre-long main haul cable from Switzerland and a new security system.
The reopening follows a deliberate act of vandalism whencut the Gondola's 50-millimetre-thick main cord back in September 2019.
However, Brown reassures that the gondola is safe to ride. "Our protocols would never allow the line to run if there was any damage to the cable and the security measures installed since the incident will ensure the gondola is secure and protected from any other criminal activity."
The Valentines Day opening comes with a sweet 50% discount for all tickets over the family day weekend from Friday, February 14 to Monday, February 17.
