Have you ever been to a dinner party with someone who seemed to know everything there is to know about champagne and cheese? You know the type; they know the precise differences in year, fizz, flavour, and exactly how to pair each item. Though a know-it-all is damn-right annoying, they're also impressive at the same time. Well, now you can learn the skills necessary to be that person.\nChampagne et Fromage is a specialty event coming to Vancouver on September 20th. It will take place at The Gam Gallery, a quaint and classy venue in historic Chinatown. At this two-hour tasting, you will get an exclusive opportunity to taste Grower Champagnes and learn how to pair them with an assortment of delicious French cheeses. Yes, you'll get a large helping of the bubbly and all the decadent cheeses you could possibly want.\nVia Unsplash\nVia Unsplash\nThe assortment of champagne you'll be enjoying at this pop-up are Grower Champagnes. "Grower Champagnes" simply means that the liquid happiness is made at the same vineyard that the grapes are grown on. This is opposed to the more mainstream champagnes which are made with grapes exclusively from the Champagne region in France.\nThis event will give you the opportunity to try a label that you may not ever try otherwise due to the monopoly of larger labels on the market. In addition to the more traditional Grower Champagnes, you'll get to try Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Noirs, and Roses.\nVia Unsplash\nThe event organizer, VIN VAN, host an assortment of pop-up wine-tastings and unique culinary events each month in British Columbia. Their events include wine pairings and a supper club.\nVia Unsplash\nYou can learn more about this event, as well as purchase your $80 ticket, on the Eventbrite website found here.
