Vancouver's New VR Spot Opens This Week & You Can Load Into "The Matrix" (PHOTOS)
Free your mind and then shoot zombies.
The Matrix came out in 1999 and ever since we've always wondered what it would be like to load into the matrix. You can get as close to it as possible in real life. The new mind-bending VR experience tucked inside the old Payless Shoe store at Kingsgate Mall and it's so exciting that you're going to want to share with all of your friends.
When you check-in, you'll be brought into a room to gear up. They'll help you put on your sleek and futuristic backpack, goggles, and show you how to use your gun.
Inside, you always have enough room to roam free. Up to eight people can play aat once.
Once you put your goggles down, the picture is ultra-crisp and your depth perception is immediately altered.
The entire time you're inside the massive free-roaming playground, there's someone there in the room with you like your conductor or game master.
They have a screen that shows them what you're seeing in VR and they can help give you tips and answer any questions you have while you're in the game.
It's really helpful because they can jump in and let you know when to switch assault rifle to a shotgun, for example, so you can shoot more zombies.
There are four games to choose from. You have 30 minutes to play, so you can choose either a 30-minute long shooting game with zombies or in space.
The best option, though, is to play two 15-minute long games. One is a zombie shooter and the other is more like an exploring game, no shooting involved.
Thewhere you aren't shooting anything at all is such a surreal experience.
Imagine looking up and seeing a massive churning ocean above you, or looking down into the vast expansive sky.
The loading screen actually feels like you're Neo or Trinity loading into The Matrix. Look up, and you'll see for miles above you. Look down, and it's like you're hoving in space.
