Although there is no shortage of ocean views in B.C., lighthouses are usually more of an East Coast thing. Luckily, we've got a few beautiful lighthouses scattered around the province that will make you feel like you're in The Maritimes. The Amphitrite Point Lighthouse is a beautiful sight with even lovelier surroundings and the next item on your coastal bucket list.

This particular lighthouse is located in the town of Ucluelet, which is a lovely little town on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

It's just under six hours from downtown Vancouver, and about four hours from Victoria, B.C.

So if you've been wandering across Vancouver Island, looking for yet another island adventure, this will check all your boxes.

For starters, the short trail that takes you to the lighthouse is absolutely stunning and will show you the best of what our beloved province has to offer.

The trail is called the Wild Pacific Trail, and you'll be able to access it from a parking lot set midway on the Coast Guard Road.

Wild Pacific will take you through the lush, mossy rainforest and then lead you to the rugged rocks on the oceanside.

So whether you're a forest lover or you like admiring the ocean up close, this hike has it all.

The hike should take you just between 30 and 40 minutes, so you can explore the forest to your heart's content.

When you actually reach the lighthouse, you will find that the journey was so worth it because the views are absolutely breathtaking.

Just take a look at the photos of the ocean and tell us you aren't already tying up your hiking boots.

Listening to the powerful tide crash into the rocks, feeling the ocean breeze, and just taking it all in can wash away any worries you may have.

The lighthouse itself is so postcard-perfect that you'd be silly not to take a few photos in front of it.

If you're a bit of a history buff, you'll enjoy this sight because the structure was built in 1908 following the shipwreck of the Pass of Melford.

The area is prone to storms and strong winds, so be sure to carry your best windbreaker for your hike.

If you're going to be savouring dramatic views of the sea rocks, you better be down for some dramatic weather too.

One of the best things about this trail is the possibility of whale watching.

That's right: if you happen to make the trip during spring, when about 20,000 animals pass through the area, you might be able to spot a sea lion or an orca whale.

All in all, this lighthouse hike will give you a taste of some of the best things the province has to offer. Rocks, lighthouse, whales — what's not to love about this trail?
