This Map Will Take You On An Epic Road Trip Through All The Best Parts Of Alberta
It's road trip season!
Everyone loves a good old fashioned road trip, complete with car snacks, road trip playlists, and getting completely lost along the way. Whether you're road tripping to a mountain town or to a shopping mall, the journey is always half of the fun.
Alberta is definitely one of the most road-trippable provinces this country has to offer. So why not make the most of it this summer and head off on an epic road trip that you'll remember for the rest of your life? Grab your friends, grab your aux cord, and pack up the car, it's ROAD TRIP TIME.
Here's the map:
1. West Edmonton Mall
Start things off at North America's largest mall. Whether you're into shopping or you're into waterslides and roller coasters, this place has it all (am I Dr. Seuss yet?).
2. Bowden SunMaze
On your way from WEM to the next spot, make a pit stop at the Bowden Sunmaze to gaze at the fields of gorgeous sunflowers shining in the sun. Perfect spot for a photo op!
Take in the absolutely stunning landscape of Drumheller, AB. This place has major desert vibes, so don't forget your big floppy hat! Be sure to check out the Royal Tyrell Museum too!
4. Calgary Tower
You HAVE to stop through Calgary if you're road tripping Alberta. The Calgary Tower (baby CN tower) is one of the most iconic spots in the city, and is located in the heart of downtown.
5. Waterton Lakes National Park
Often overshadowed by other, more popular national parks in the province, Waterton is totally underrated. It's stunning beauty is absolutely un-missable.
6. Grassi Lakes (Canmore)
A beginner's hike up from the town of Canmore, this stunning lake duo is the most breathtaking colour of blue you've ever seen. It's seriously mesmorizing, you won't be able to tear yourself away!
Banff is definitely one of the most idyllic little mountain towns in the world. With adorable little shops along the main strip and towering mountains just feet away, it's the perfect place to stay overnight!
8. Lake Louise
Although this is one of the most popular tourist spots in the province, it's still a definite must-see. I mean, they're there for a reason! The lake is absolutely breathtaking, plus you can canoe on it!
9. Maligne Lake / Spirit Island
This island is so beautiful that it's one of the most photographed spots in the world. Nestled in Jasper National Park, the towering mountains in the background complete the gorgeous lake view.
10. Miette Hot Springs
After a long road trip, the best kind of reward is taking a load off in the Miette Hotsprings. Your fatigue and cramped leg muscles from sitting in the same seat for hours will totally release, leaving you ready for the last driving stint home.
