This 11 Km Trail Takes You Past Hidden Waterfalls And Pink Beaches In Canada
It looks like a Caribbean beach!
When you think of Canada, pink sandy beaches and turquoise waters don't normally come to mind. Hidden away off the coast of Cape Breton, you'll find a magical oasis that looks like something out of a travel magazine. Canada's pink sand trail leads to some stunning views, and you're going to want to add it to your bucket list.
Complete with secret waterfalls and blush coloured shores, you'll hike along the Atlantic coastline and breathe in the fresh ocean air. Cape Smokey Trail leads over mountains and across the spectacular Cape Breton Highlands.
You can find the Cape Smokey trail on the north-eastern side of Cape Breton Island. Located in the Cape Breton Nation Highlands Park off, it is accessible just off of Cabot Trail. You'll begin at the top of a mountain, looking out over the breathtaking coastal surroundings.
The entire 11 km trail can take 3.5 - 4 hours to complete. While the majority of the hike takes you through wooded areas, there are several lookout points that will bring you ocean views. As you gaze out at the beautiful shores and crystal waves, be sure to look for hidden waterfalls flowing down the cliff face. On clear days, you'll be able to see far into the north, and maybe even catch a glimpse of St. Paul's Island.
As it is a long hike, it's a good idea to pack water and some snacks to enjoy along the way. It is also advised to wear long pants, as some areas can be overgrown. A good pair of hiking shoes and a camera are a must.
