This 3.5 Km Boardwalk Trail Will Lead You To A Hidden Waterfall In Ontario
Strap on those hiking boots.
Small, but mighty, this gorgeous 10-meter high waterfall is a sight you absolutely have to take in this summer. Located in Hamilton, just a one hour drive from Toronto, this hidden Ontario waterfall is the perfect excuse to get out of the city. The rustic 3.5 km boardwalk trail that leads to the falls is mainly uphill, so get ready to get your sweat on.
For those ambitious enough, there’s also an 11 km optional side hike as well. Luckily, at the end of your trek, you can cool off by dipping your feet in the shallow water at the base of the falls.
Smokey Hollow Falls is just one of over 100 waterfalls in Hamilton. There is a safe, fenced-in viewing platform available, but most visitors opt to get up close. Just be cautious on the slippery rocks.
Parking is available close by, but the lot only holds about 15 cars and fills up quickly on weekends, so try to get there early. At one point the waterfall worked to power a local sawmill, but it has since retired.
After you’ve completed the hike, snapped a few pictures, and dipped your toes in the water it’s time to take in all the nearby local attractions. The adorable Waterdown Village is only a 5-minute drive from the falls and full of artisanal shops and cafes.
