Let’s get real here - camping is great and all, but once you get older (and your back gets more sore) we tend to look for accommodations that are a bit more comfortable. We begin trading in the sleeping bags for the lush mattresses, and the camp food for the breakfast buffets. And don't even get me started on the mosquito bites that make you look like you’ve got a case of the chicken pox. Ya, we’ll take the Mimosas instead, please.

Alas, the millennial generation introduced a new idea: glamping. What is glamping you ask? Otherwise known as glamour camping, the idea of this is to basically give the not-so adventure seekers a luxurious experience in the wilderness.

Most likely aimed for boyfriends trying to convince their girlfriends to go on an outdoor trip, glamping sites are found all across Ontario. They offer a real relaxting vacation, and perhaps the most relaxing of them all is found at the Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat.

Located about an hour and a half east of Toronto in Northumberland County, this luxurious campsite is your ultimate escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Each Safari Tent has its own large hammock, a fire pit and barbecue; along with stunning views of their spring-fed ponds and the peaceful wilderness.

For accomodations, you get to sleep on a plush and comfortable mattress (see ya later back problems), while a breakfast basket is placed at your tent door each morning. Even though the campsite encourages guests to bring their own preferred meal to cook, you can order a BBQ basket that is also delivered straight to your tent.

Not convinced yet? You can also further your relaxation with their licensed bar and patio, their lawn game activities, relaxation massages, and their yoga and health retreats. With additional luxurious amenities like a saltwater pool, beach volleyball, and paddle boats and canoes, Whispering Springs offers you a retreat in style and sophistication.

Now I don’t know what it takes to convince you about attending a camp retreat, but this place had me on the private hammock. And the alcohol options they offer at the Watering Hole Guest Lounge and Bar (I'm talking about you, Prince Edward County Wine).

The price for their Traditional Safari Tent starts at $295 per night on a weekday and $349 per night on a weekend. An ideal getaway for those who want to gaze at stars instead of skyscrapers, the glamour of Whispering Springs holds the potential to be your new escape from the city.
