If you're looking to escape from the city life, take a trip to Vancouver Island this summer. It's close enough to travel to easily, but far enough away that it seems like a whole different world.

The 90 minute ferry ride to Victoria goes by fast, and there's even the occasional opportunity to see whales. It's probably the best form of transit you'll ever encounter, and the bus ride into downtown Victoria afterwards is quick and simple which is great if you don't have a car handy.

For anyone looking to expand their horizons and travel somewhere new this summer without straying too far from home, why not pack up your car and head on out to one of these eight awesome locations.
