Nashville is best known for two things: Country music and hot chicken. If you've lived in Tennessee for awhile, we're sure your tastebuds have become immune to all things spicy. However, if you haven't tried Pepperfire's hot chicken in Nashville, it's time to test your limits. The name says it all at Pepperfire because their "X Hot!" and "XX Hot!" options "will jump on you and won't let go." The original East Nashville location (est. 2010) just closed on Tuesday (Dec. 17), but don't "sweat" it because they are relocating to Marathon Village district. According to a press release, the business continues to grow and this will be its second time moving to an even bigger location. The new 3,000-square-foot spot will open in March 2020 and you can truly test your tastebuds with this insanely hot chicken. Even just the "Hot" option is described as "painful for most" on their menu. In fact, the chicken is so overwhelmingly fiery that Pepperfire has been named "America's Spiciest Dish" on Food Network's Top 5 Restaurants. The restaurant has also been featured on Chowdown Countdown and Man Finds Food, so you know you're getting the real deal. Choose from sandwiches, tenders, breasts, legs, entire chickens and more. Spicy to the point where we enjoyed it BUT if it were mild, then we would have chocked to death maybe, we don’t know. But it sure was delicious. . Tried out the fried okra too. Nothing special, it was pretty average. We do recommend you try out @pepperfire whenever you visit Nashville!🔥 (Also, Chef Liz Johnson recommended this place when we dined at her restaurant @the_catbirdseat. If spicy isn't really your thing, there are still milder options for you. You can even get the "Southernfried" with no heat.
